Frugal Fridays - free health and beauty sample products

Frugal Fridays

Since I’ve resolved to post here on a more regular basis I thought that perhaps jumping on the Frugal Fridays bandwagon would give me an attainable goal - one post a week. I think I can handle that much. So here’s my very first Frugal Fridays contribution. And for more frugal tips, links, and ideas, visit Crystal’s blog at Biblical Womanhood.

FREE SAMPLES:

Most of these will add you to their e-mail lists (I use a “junk” e-mail address for samples and surveys) and several ask for you to answer a few questions related to their products. I think the Dove offers expire tomorrow (September 1), so be sure to request your samples quickly if you’re interested!

Almost Here…

Thank you ladies, for the patience and grace y’all have extended to me as I’ve begun the adventure of publishing a magazine. :)

The second issue of A Lady in Waiting has been a long time in the works, but it’s now almost ready for printing. My mom is looking over a last article or two right now and then I’ll be sending it off to a couple proofreaders. It should be at the printer by the middle of the coming week and on its way to you in the first week of September. Please be praying that all will go smoothly.

The next issue is being working on now - the theme will be moderation. If you have any articles you’d like to submit, please send them to rebekah@aladyinwaiting.com. Some ideas include the meaning of moderation, balanced eating (gluttony vs. heavy dieting), modest attire, rest vs. idleness, modest attire, etc.

I’m working on a new timeline that will hopefully have the magazine on a quarterly schedule by mid-2008, but we can only print as we have the finances so keep spreading the word! The Refer-A-Friend contest is open till December 31st, so if you tell a friend about the magazine, make sure they give me your name when they subscribe.

I hope y’all are having a beautiful and profitable summer. Please let me know if there’s anything that I can pray about with or for you.

Blessings and hugs,

Rebekah

Becoming Jane

Having seen previews for the new movie, Becoming Jane, I was interested in finding out how true to the real life of Jane Austen this film is. A few clicks of my mouse and I was at Carolyn McCulley’s blog, reading her not-overwhelmingly-positive review of the movie (her review is, in fact, titled Not Very Becoming to Jane). Her blog noted that Lori Smith, author of A Walk With Jane Austen (to be released October 2007), had also been at the screening and reviewed the movie. Lori’s review was just quite similar to Carolyn’s, and includes many fact vs. fiction notes.

If you’re an Austen fan and have been anticipating the release of this movie, I urge you to read these reviews first. Maybe you’ll wait till the film is released on DVD.

Carolyn’s review

Lori’s review (Scroll down several posts to read.)
